TRITON HOSTELS
The joint effort of a graphics team (which I was a part of), a video & photo team, a physical prototype team, and a public relations team, this is an affordable housing concept for the UC San Diego campus. The idea behind it is to convert classrooms, particularly the larger ones, into hostels with beds for those who can't afford the commute or are experiencing financial struggles. Coincidently, this project idea developed during the COLA protest (Cost of Living Adjustment), a call for more affordable graduate student housing, and received attention from the protesters.

The initial idea was to have this new type of student housing affordable but also green, with plants and possibly trees incorporated into its design. This is a mood board that I put together for such an idea.

The colors derived from my green mood board.

This was the first project logo concept that I'd created based on my first mood board and color palette. I tried to make it look appealing to students while also keeping its housing objective, and so shaped it to be a welcoming and energetic house that looks like a college student.

After further consideration, the team gathered that, given the structure and looks of most of UCSD's buildings, the more prominent colors - and thus more dominant - are grey, turquoise, and variations of cyan. With this in mind, I created another mood board to reflect that idea.

The colors derived from my grey-ish mood board.

This was the logo concept that I'd generated based on my grey mood board and color palette. Because the colors this time instilled a more serious tone, I wanted the design to appear as such.

This was the final version of the project logo that the team chose and perfected together.

The cheapest and largest room for sleeping options.

Smaller room, less people than the 1st tier, more individuality, and slightly more expensive.

Least amount of people, but at a cost.

This is what attracted the COLA protesters. They even wanted to use it for their own cause.

After the concept was finalized, it was turned into a door hanger advertisement. All the teams went across campus to various living quarters and hung these on the residents' doors.
TALK TO THE HAND
This mask was designed to remind its wearer to talk smarter and less by resting very uncomfortably on one's face, and had to be worn in front of other people for one week. The fingers were 3D-printed from PLA plastic, then fastened to the base structure using zip ties. The base structure was sculpted from wire and duct tape.

"TABLE FLIP!"
Table Flip! is a semi-sentient Python program that makes decisions based on randomly generated percentages. It is designed to acquire book titles from Google Books based on a keyword search, then position them onto a canvas and give some suggestions on how the text should be distorted. Every once in a while, it will get sassy and bail, spend some time sulking, then resume its task. Below are the resulting poster designs.
